Company History
In 1898
a man named Phillip German started a business under the name of “Germans” which involved the installation and
service of windmills and water systems. To this day if you look around the Poweshiek County area you can see his work with
his name printed on still standing windmills. Phillip’s son George German along with his wife, Fidelia bought the business
in 1927 and operated under the name of Farm Water Supply. They expanded the business into the farm sector including the installation
and service of pumps and hydrants as well as trenching projects. Fidelia also headed up a side business in which she sold
portable whirlpools for bathtubs. In 1963 George and Fidelia sold the business to their Son Larry German and his wife, Donna.
Larry and Donna kept the name as Farm Water Supply until 1986 when they changed it to German Plumbing Heating and Cooling.
They brought a broader spectrum of business to the company which included residential and commercial plumbing and heating
sales, installation and service. In February of 2000 the 4th generation of Germans purchased the company. Randy German and
his wife Peg along with Scott German and his wife, Susan are the current owners of German Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
Inc.
Staff Bios
Randy German has spent most of his life along side his father in the plumbing aspect
of the business and is an expert in his field. His experience includes the installation and service of all types of plumbing
systems in residential, commercial and industrial applications. Randy and his trained and certified technicians make up the
Plumbing Division of German Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Inc..
Scott German is a graduate of the University
of Texas at Arlington and joined the family business in 1987. Scott has developed the heating and cooling side of the business
and is certified and experienced in radiant floor heat, geothermal systems, forced air furnaces, central air conditioners,
air cleaners, humidifiers and heat exchangers. Scott heads up the HVAC Division along with his trained and certified technicians.
Susan German joined the company in 2001 as Business Manager. She also handles the plumbing sales and design aspect
of the company. She has a diploma from the Interior Design Institute of New York and can assist you with your building or
remodel needs right down to the smallest of detail.
